There’s no doubt that our bodies change as we get older. In honor of September being Healthy Aging Month, our Kinnelon NJ chiropractor wants to provide you with some tips on how to age in a graceful and healthy way. The earlier that you focus on your health, the more benefits that you will reap in the long run.
If you don’t have time to dedicate solely to working out, try to incorporate activity into your everyday routine. Always opt to take the stairs instead of the elevator, take daily walks and try to lift weights if possible. A little dedication to an active lifestyle goes a long way!
Eat Healthy Food
It goes without saying that food plays a huge role in how well you age. Try to eat a variety of healthy foods; fruits and vegetables will fill you up and keep you energized throughout the day. Try to avoid excess sodium, as the majority of U.S. adults consume more than twice the amount of recommended daily sodium that they are supposed to! Contact your doctor if you think you have specific dietary restrictions.
Exercise Your Brain
Not only does your body need exercise, but your brain does as well. One in eight adults over the age of 65 in the U.S. has Alzheimer’s disease. To keep your brain at its sharpest, stimulate cognitive function by pushing your brain! Take on a new activity, read a book or learn a new instrument.
Tend to Injuries
Don’t let pains and aches linger. Our Kinnelon, NJ chiropractor knows from firsthand experiences that small injuries can quickly progress if they aren’t addressed.
