How to Naturally Cope with Headaches

There’s nothing worse than having a headache you just can’t shake. When this happens, the only thing that you want is for your headache to go away, because the pain makes it difficult to focus on anything else. The next time you have a frustrating headache, try some of these tips.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil contains menthol, which can help your muscles relax and ease pain. If you apply diluted peppermint oil directly to your temples, you’ll feel a cooling sensation that helps relieve tension from both headaches and migraines. Make sure that you don’t get any oil in your eye, as it can burn.

Massage Your Neck and Temples

Self-massages are a great way to help alleviate pain from headaches and migraines. When you give yourself a massage, it can help improve your blood flow and soothe tension headaches.

Warm Your Neck

Try placing a warm heating pad or a warm washcloth around the base of your neck. If this doesn’t help with your headache, you can also try putting a cold washcloth on your neck instead.

Be Mindful of What You Eat and Drink

What you put into your system can have a big impact on your headaches. Try to limit your caffeine and alcohol intake when you have a headache. If you are prone to regular headaches, make sure not to skip meals, and fuel your body with healthy nutrients.
